Genre: A Queen in Egypt

Sunshine on the Obelisk

Genre is in the ancient world, and Egypt is one of the oldest. Once again I'm mixing up Roman and Egyptian styles - the collar style jewelry and cosmetics are Egyptian in influence, while the gown is revealingly Roman inspired, rope trimmed and tied low at the hips. Its named Vestal for the followers of Vesta, the keepers of sacred fire, and some of the most powerful women in Rome. Their simple robes are re-imagined here as a comfortable, loose gown of draped cloth that is actually in two pieces - meaning one may mix and match top and bottom robes if one wishes. Created by Les Encantades, these gowns are well-rigged and smooth while still following the bend of my knees. I particularly appreciate that the fabric is lined inside, which means tricky shots from the side still can look good. The drape in back is gorgeous - the folds of cloth layering over each other and around a much slimmer body in a sexy yet still subdued manner. I particularly appreciated that I was able to have it fall between the folds of my wings; so often I have to handwave fabric in my back-shots, but in this case the fabric fell perfectly around the roots of my wings making for a lovely look.

Rounded Angles

My accessories are the more Egyptian end of things, though in both cases more inspired by than directly copying. The eyeshadow and liner layer separately and are created by Oddfish to suit male and female avatars alike. The colors - a range of blues and greens - fit with a bunch of the different patterns of liner and smoothly with the eyebrows - also included. There are a wide variety, from simple to complex. I chose a deep teal to go with the jewelry from Muse - a set with a lot of variety, including a collar style necklace, jewels down the brow, a large nose-ring with a chain to the earring, earrings in addition, and wide arm bands. I love the delicacy of the chain work, from the layers of linked rounds around the neck, to the more ornate spirals on the armbands. The variation of stone is nice as well; instead of focusing on a single stone, it's a mix of different shades of teal and cyan and different shapes of stone, like diamonds and teardrops. They're truly some beautiful pieces which can work well with a historically inspired outfit like this one, or with more modern dress.
